Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar, Heritage Cherry Sunburst

Product Description

Introducing the Les Paul Traditional Plus Heritage Cherry from Gibson USA. With all the fat, sweet, snarling Les Paul tone that purists love, the Traditional plays, sounds, and weighs like the Les Pauls today’s players grew up loving and lusting after. Taking design and visual cues from the Les Pauls of the ’80s and '90s, the Les Paul Traditional starts with an un-chambered mahogany body with traditional weight-relief holes for a beefy tone that maintains the resonance of modern Les Pauls. The Traditional Plus also comes with a little extra — a beautifully figured Maple top reminiscent of the fabled tops of the Les Pauls from the late '50s and early '60s. Each Les Paul Traditional also comes with Gibson USA’s standard black snakeskin case.

  • Weight-relieved Mahogany Body with Highly Figured Maple Top
  • 57 Classic Pickups
  • Vintage Gibson Speed Knobs
  • TonePros Kluson Vintage-style Tuners
  • Revolutionary PLEK System Set-up

5.0 out of 5 stars This is what a Les Paul is supposed to be, August 14, 2010
This review is from: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar, Heritage Cherry Sunburst (Electronics)
I have the Iced Tea burst finish which, to me, looks very similar as to what is pictured here. I bought my Les Paul in 2009 and the Traditional was one of the only models at that time that was not chambered (i.e. the body is a solid block of wood). The 57 pickups are amazing and when combined with the nice solid body give you a great warm tone. The only modification that I have made to my Les Paul is to have a bone nut installed and the tuners changed. The bone nut helps keep the strings from binding and add to the tone a little. The tuners probably could have stayed after I changed the nut, but they make some very good "aged" locking tuners (I used Grover) to give the guitar a nice vintage look. I can not emphasize enough how important the PLEK system is to giving you an absolutely perfect fret dress and straight neck. I have all of my gigging guitars plecked by Joe Glaser in Nashville, and afterwards you can drop the action down to about nothing. It makes the guitar very, very... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A New Standard Becomes an Instant Classic, December 22, 2011
This review is from: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar, Heritage Cherry Sunburst (Electronics)
The Les Paul has to be the most iconic guitars in the history of eclectic instruments. This sonic monster first hit the streets in 1952 with the release of the Goldtop. In almost 50 years of production the guitar has seen many configurations, still for the most part the guitar remains the same.

The Look: The Les Paul Traditional is a nod to the classic trappings we have grown to love on our Les Pauls. Let's start with the obvious. The Traditional series has some of the most beautiful finishes ever seen on a Les Paul. The burst finishes give off a vintage faded aura sprayed over a highly figured Grade-AA maple top. Desert Burst, Light Burst and Iced Tea join traditional finishes like Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Ebony and Goldtop. The guitar is finished off with a vintage style cream binding.

The Feel: The Traditional has a weight relived body but don't expect this guitar to be feather weight. It is still a Les Paul. The classic ergonomic design of The Les Paul makes... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, but needed professional setup., December 5, 2011
This review is from: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar, Heritage Cherry Sunburst (Electronics)
Bought one of these for my son for his Birthday/Xmas present. Beautiful. Only issue I had was the setup of the nut. One string was way too low. Took to luthier rather than return and they did a complete setup and it looks and plays beautiful. My son loves it. I expected to need to set it up, but did not expect to need the nut adjusted. It is one fine guitar though.
